How To Split An Atom: Your Competition Doesn’t Exist

  • Justin Kownacki · 1 month ago
It's a matter of managing expectations, but it's also a matter of understanding what your own expectations are in the first place. You can't compete until you're competent, and you won't be competent if you're not producing something people are willing to pay more for than it cost you to make it.

Before you can outwit the big fish in your market, you need to swim. And if swimming is what makes you happy, there's no need to allocate unnecessary resources to being the best; just be the one who can stay afloat.

I think everything boils down to expectation management and you're right, the first expectation that needs to be managed is your own.

Lucid point as always Justin, thank you.

You re right. Every new thing that we may think to start, there is always someone out there who started before us.
    Quite frustating.

    Steve,

You are absolutely right. Myself and my business partner see this differently. He is always afraid someone will steal our ideas. I dont agree at all. The majority of people are far too lazy to take an idea and run with it. If people are afraid then it all it will ever be is "an idea".

I think the information presented will be useful to many people a lot.

Competition can be a driving force in life, but it definitely helps in the business world to choose a market that you are very capable of competing in.

Its true, competition is necessary - but only to keep you developing NEW ideas. If you create a product that has never been seen before, or vastly improves one that’s already there then yes, there are plenty of customers for you.

    Brilliant thought provoking post.

i agree with you, with fierce competition, small business can't even survive for 2 years from its starting point.
  • tessatsobe · 1 month ago
That is well explained business competition. We can make our business grow by being positive of the outcome of competition.

I agree with what you said. It's just so hard sometimes not to compete. It's human nature I think.

Competition occurs when there is limited resources. A is possible, but D is the strongest answer. Im pretty positive on this! Hope it helps!

Misery deserves company haha. In this day of unlimited potential and millions of websites, it seems impossible to be the first mover on anything. Good post, even if it is a little frustrating to hear it.

Since you’re the only intender, this is entirely an internal conflict — within YOU. You’re holding the thought (the intention) for both people to want the same position. But you’re also thinking (intending) that only one can get it. So you’re intending competition. This whole situation is your creation. You believe in competition, so that’s what you manifest. Maybe you have some beliefs (thoughts and intentions) about who will get the promotion, in which case your expectations will manifest. But you may have a higher order belief that life is random, unfair, uncertain, etc., so in that case you may manifest a surprise because that’s what you’re intending.

    Competition is always good.

Different strokes for different folks. If you are worried about getting your idea stolen (unless it's really something extraordinary and innovative) there is always a possibility that somebody in the world may have a similar but different idea (for example, Dr. Chris Barnhard was not the first person to do a heart transplant, he was the first one to do a successful heart transplant. At the same time, there were hundreds of people trying to perfect this technique)

It's always good to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing, but do something unique yourself. Only concentrate on your idea and build on your idea.

This is so true. I was guilty of this myself for some time. I wanted to start a business, but didn't because every business I thought about getting into had competition and I thought that I had to find a business with no competition in order to be successful. Then I realized that if there is competition, there is money to be made and there is probably an abundance of potential customers and more than enough to go around. Good information here. I think it will help a lot of people overcome that paralysis that holds them back from being truly successful in their business.

The results show you a listing of all sites that link to your site. While chances are your competition will not be listed, you can get an overview of the 'type' of websites that link to you. If there are a bunch of similar sites, that can help you with your marketing and target advertising in the future.

There will always be competition on whatever product it is you are marketing. Believe in yourself first of all, then believe in your product and the product will sell itself.

This is so right. I've got a friend setting up business at the moment so I'm going to give him this to read, so he doesn't make the normal mistake of worrying about what everyone else is doing. It's good to be aware of your competitors, but don't let them rule what you do.

Competition gives confidence and also fear. No one likes to lose in a competition. Fear will also be there.
