How To Split An Atom: Twine: The Bookmaring Site You Should Use

    Having used both Twine and Social|Median, I would have to cast my vote for the latter. Twine is nice, but too often I receive links to articles that are either irrelevant to the topic they purport or are in a language i don't speak (all I'm asking for is an English only filter since my German is not exactly what I would call up to snuff).

    The community over at social|median is very involved and the continual attempts at improving the site through user feedback and testing are impressive.

    For whatever reason I've never gotten into Social|Median. I do get their
    newsletter and I like that there community seems involved. I guess I haven't
    run into the recommendation problem with Twine, but I imagine it could very
    easily happen depending on how you have it setup.

    My two cents:
    1st cent) As you describe it Twine offers tagging for the "lazy" people, which is good, although I have doubts on how much that suits any bookmarker's needs.
    2nd cent) the community part is nice but it isn't that important in bookmarking: personal bookmarks do not have the same vanity % such as social news, pictures, movies and such. Twine has to work for the individual and its needs and then also offer social networking.

    I think there are two types of bookmarkers, ones that need to maintain a
    personal list of their favorites sites and ones that are interested in
    growing that list. I think Twine appeals to the second case. If you are
    really proficient at tagging, and don't really want to share your finds
    directly -- Twine doesn't have too much for you.

    I have never heard of twine before. I am currently a college student so I'm always looking for new sites to do research on. There are so many bookmarking sites out there. Each has their ups and downs. To be honest it is hard to find a site that I can continuously use. I like Twine and their UI, it is a little different than the others and it will be much easier to use now that it is faster.

    Honestly, this Twine site reminding me of the Twitter site, where the site design and layout is almost the same to me here...

    No matter what, I have already signed up for this site and test it out myself!

    They seem to have some interesting concepts with their topic relationships. Of course being new they dont have too much bookmarks now and we will see how this will work out.
    Mostly i dont use those bookmark-sites to save my own bookmarks but to do research using them as a better search engine.

    You seem pretty happy with Twine so I decided to give it a try. I just signed up and set up my profile. Thanks for all the information - sometimes the worst thing about using a new site is trying to figure out how it works. It's nice to be able to skip that step and jump right in.
