Starting my own WordPress powered blog in May, I've seen nothing but growth for each month since I started. I got lucky on one particular article and a few others and those have indeed given me momentum. The search engine traffic is always trickling in and I think as long as I keep the train moving, people will want to hop on.

Increasing those RSS Subscriber numbers though have proven to be difficult. Although 150 is a nice number as it's better than 0

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

You know, my site has been around for exactly a month (hurrah!) and we've got pretty good search engine position. The problem we're finding is that we're in such a small niche *travel* that even the masters of our domain have a small readership. How do we expand that?

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

This is a great post for everyone who are starting with their blog. I'm gonna send this link to my friend, he's been blogging for more then a month and wants to quit already :)
I guess he'll continue if he sees this and more posts like this in the future.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

No problem, please send me a link once you have updated. I would love to have a look.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

Thanks! I'd never considered doing a blog before, and am a bit shy about making it known, but your comments make it well worth while.

I'll definitely look around for another theme that works better.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

Just off the top of my head I would say that you should change your theme. In my browser there is a lot of really strange overlapping of images and content elements. Usually you only get a few seconds to impress so these little things count for a lot.

Secondly, I understand why you have the about section up front, but for a casual reader I really don't want to have to click through to see the meat of your blog.

Otherwise I love your idea, it's a wonderful blog.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

Thanks for writing this article. I'm not sure if I want to have lots of traffic -- haven't submitted to any sites or anything. My blog is a story with a message -- that each of us are responsible for our own health, and if we abdicate that responsibility to someone else (like doctors), then the damage created is only our own fault. It will be published when it's completed.

On the other hand, I've also posted my husband's amazing paintings which I think, in my most generous moments, should be shared with the world.

I noticed that you posted to someone else on the subject of their blog -- could you look at mine?

www.youownyourhealth.com

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

All U say is true. i agree with u totally. all the pics u used are so much perfect. liked the post.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

Go point JD. Remember that you're writing for your readers. If you are just doing a personal journal, then do what you want but if you are growing a blog then give your readers what they expect from you.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

Thanks so much Mark, I really appreciate it.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

Just from visiting your site Ella, here is a suggestion. Maybe you need to add a little bit of your personality before or after the recipe. No matter how good your recipes are (there are one or two I was thinking about trying), what people really want is to be entertained while they are being educated.

Try adding a story about the first time you made the recipe or an interesting anecdote about the recipe, especially if you plan on submitting that post somewhere. People will be more receptive.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

I agree 100% I'd also say you should make sure you have a niche (and to be patient with that niche). I've watched my subscriber count surge and then drop down as I wander off into a topic my readers aren't interested in.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

I've just started one month ago, and I'm depressed already that I barely have any comments, and no traffic from search engines. I submitted some posts to blog carnivals, but people seem to be simply not interested in my cooking recipes (which all my friends say are very good, this is why I started the blog in the first place). I hope after three months the situation will change.

Re: Time Is A Blogger’s Best Friend

This is a wonderful, inspiring post.
