I have been in the Vacation Rental industry base in Lake Tahoe, Nevada and found that successful bookings increase in line with the attitude of the employee. For example if a renter calls and has a whole list of questions about a Lake View or Ocean Front vacation rental or cabin the booking can usually be made if the booking agent is nice, full of knowledge and patient. Helping our reservation team to stay focused and positive create a welcoming energy by others in the office and travelers seeking vacation rentals, homes and cabins. Just my 2 cents :)

Thanks for the sober look at success. I have owned two successful businesses in the past and I was always amazed at the people who would comment to me, "I was going to do the same thing", (as what I was doing). I always felt like responding that you would be willing to put it all on the line financially, work 80 hour weeks and sleep like a baby - two hours at a time and wake up crying. No you wouldn't. I'm glad I did and had a blast doing it, but I much happier now that I don't. Thanks ;)

Like the idea that being self employed means you can work as little as you like, when actually you have to work more because success or failure depends on you - and you don't get paid for vacations.

I totally agree with you. Success doesn't come 'overnight.' It will take a lot of failures and challenges before one can achieve it. That is, of course, should be done with the right attitude.

I am living proof of this one. I have been working in the Internet for around 8 years, always hoping to find the next niche product or revenue stream that is going to make me tonnes of money overnight. It's taken me a long time to work out that making money on the Internet, like everywhere else, takes time!

That's true, those are some very interesting stories. I Love reading about them as I'm sure most people do. Even inspire me on my entrepreneurial ventures. So when I got all excited to start my business you can imagine my disappointment to see that it's not that fast, or easy. Gotta keep on keepin on though right?
