Solar Powered Hospital

50% of the power for Sutter-Auburn Faith Hospital in Sacramento California will be coming from solar soon. Set to be completed at the beginning of next year, this project will involve retrofitting a stretch of nearby parking lot to include 3500 solar panels.

  • A suprising number of companies (including Google) are implementing solar power to provide part of their energy requirements. This, of course, has been helped by generous federal tax breaks :)

  • in the final analysis, i think th emaintennace costs of these pannels might be too high especially when their depreciation hits over 60% which is roughly in three years. but all the same its a very noble idea
  • Nothing wrong with solar energy. I'm not big on the wind turbines to produce energy because they impose on a person's view, birds flight patterns, etc..but I don't see too many negatives when it comes to solar power.
  • As long as they have power to run on during the night hours. this could be great and could save the hospitals lots of money.
