Poll: It’s 2028, What’s Your Life Like?

Started by sbspalding · 10 months ago

Roll up your sleeves, hop in your time machine and join me for a ride. Consider for a moment the changes we have seen since 1988 — the Internet, the popularization of the cell phone, the whole realm of genetic science hitting the forefront. Now I want you to project yourself 20 ... Continue reading »

  • What an exciting poll. I chose AI and Robotics...2nch choice: Health/Genetic.
  • Interesting stuff, any expectations for where AI / Robotics will go?
  • I will be dead by 2028, is that good enough for you?
  • There is always one happy person, isn't there :)
  • I was stuck between Robotic and Genetic. But I figured by 2028 i will care more about having my diaper changed than having great boobs.
  • Robotic boobs?
  • nah. choice between Robotic Diaper Changer or Genetic Boobs (made from the mouth swabs of Pamela Anderson and a Guernsey Cow).
  • Couldn't you just get a robotic diaper that changes itself?
  • I just hope street vendors won't be peddling rat meat like they are now encouraging in India......
  • Wow, do you have a link or something on the story behind that one?
"An official in the Indian state of Bihar has come up with a new idea to encourage low caste poor people to cope with food shortages - rat meat."
  • Well I'll be . . .
  • And you think eating pigs is any better?
  • Well from the commentator above it doesn't seem to be entirely well received.
  • These are a bizarre set of choices. Economic will be a bigger factor for US residents - namely they won't have enough money for anything on your list.
  • Roboticists and AI researchers will fix all the other problems. We just have to worry about the ramifications of the alien intelligence that will result from the true creation of an AI. This is my PHD thesis.
  • aye? I'd love to hear more about that - feel free to send me an email

  • I like the thought provoking poll question. While I think all of them will have a great impact I voted for Energy/Environment. Since everyone seems to think we will be out of oil by then I think there will have to be incredible advances in alternative energy, which will also impact the environment.
  • Interesting that comments on eating rats & pigs have appeared, since I read in today's paper that a scientific expert has advised that we should have one meatless day, ideally more, a week in order to protect the environment from pollution due to mass breeding of livestock. Seems a pretty simple change to make. So by 2028, we are eating less meat of all sorts, but climatic change will be an increased concern due to the build-up from past neglect & the effects by then will be so evident that it will have become impossible for politicians to sideline it.
  • hmmmm! this surely is an interesting thought. However, I entered the "AI" was not sure that I and only two other guys are thinking on the same lines :-(

I think technology is changing really fast and it is really difficult to see 10 years down the line.

    Cheers / Jessica
  • I love the idea of getting a robotic diaper that changes itself :)
  • Well, I voted for the "Robotic/A.I" as in that moment, we might able to get ourselves a "robot lover" as well...!

Thus, the robotic/A.I is far beyond our imagination in this decade!
  • I'm probably sleeping under a bridge and eating beans out of rusty cans because i blew all my cash on t shirts lmao.
  • I think in 2028 we will be dependent on machines for everything and this is going to cause a big problem for us because we will get lazy and we will be dependent on machines for everything.
  • The idea of Robotic diaper really makes me laugh. But that is not impossible to happen.
  • These are a bizarre set of choices. Economic will be a bigger factor for US residents - namely they won't have enough money for anything on your list.
