I think I would definately classify myself as a lurker. Well, at least I was a lurker until I just realized it and posted this... I guess I am a comentathorurker (something like that) now.

I think I will go back to being a lurker. It is easier to spell.

Re: How To Understand Internet Archetypes

Nothing wrong with lurking, heh. I'm finding that the traffic I get from a post that has been stumbled seems to be deeper traffic. The pages per view are 3x what the Digg reader will view. Man I love Google analytics. I love this article and yes, Top ten lists are so 2005. I agree with Heather re lurking and gathering confidence and knowledge and I am hesitant to dive into a comments thread that has any Type 2s hanging out. I haven't had any type 2s yet and honestly I'm afraid of them. B-list bloggers also have a tendency to suffer form kidney stones and Rackspact just got bought by Google.

Re: How To Understand Internet Archetypes

Great point, the web is very little more than a mirror of life on a fairly large scale.

Re: How To Understand Internet Archetypes

Very funny post yet so true. I think as you say the Internet mirrors life. As we become more comfortable in our online personality, we start to diversify who we are. Before starting HWH, I use to be the lurker. As I gained knowledge and confidence in the things of the web, I started to diversify and become involved.

Re: How To Understand Internet Archetypes

Yay!!! My favorite article of yours yet! I can see myself in a few of those types. I've left web communities because of a few of those types and DS9 is way better than Voyager! Kudos!
