Great post, I've been telling the same things to many people I know who showed an interest in creating a social networking website. They always miss the most important points: are there enough people who will be interested in your social networking site? Will people take the time to sign up for your online service? is the niche you are targeting really going to be interested in an online application? Most often the answer is no and they waste a lot of time creating something which is never going to work.
