How To Split An Atom: How To Communicate Effectively

  • Nick Schmidt · 2 years ago
Communication is very very very important..

I think it is one of the most important part of business. It's hard to do sometimes, but it can be done.

I know when I interview for jobs, I always emphasize the importance of communication.
Very day we are all learning new ways of communication through email, social networks, IM's, and video. Even though we have all these new elements, it still takes time and patients to communicate with people at any part of the world.

Yea, but no matter how many new means of communication that we develop the basic principles behind it seem to stay the same, don't you think?

"don't believe your own PR" is a good rule to live by!
  • sbspalding · 2 years ago
I think that's the biggest thing. The less you believe your own hype, the better off you will be in business. At the end of the day, it's our egos that kill us.

Good thoughts! I especially like this:

"The last point is that brevity is clarity. Say what needs to be said and be done with it. The fewer words you use to explain an idea, the more likely it is that the idea will actually be understood. When communicating with the public, don’t be afraid to stop talking every once in a while."

Absolutely. Sometimes the best thing you can say is very little.

    Hi there,

I think too many businesses forget about the importance of good service. Good communication is shown in many different ways including but not limited to: Response time, helpfulness, advice and most importantly the customer needs to feel that you CARE about their product as much, if not more then they do.

There is a lot to learn about good communication techniques/strategies that may have been lost in this hectic world.

    Thanks,

    Sarah.

I agree, little things like adding a personal touch to your service can make a world of difference to the customer.

Yup, communication is definitely important in daily life. Even in highly technical professions such as engineering, the ability to communicate is still highly valued.

Glad I found this post. It seems it's still the same: we all say communication in business is important, but do we actually know what we mean with effective communication? In my opinion one part of your communciation with your clients is to build rapport, the feeling that you understand them. This is useful in building trust. And who do we want business with, somebody we trust or somebody we don't?
