How To Split An Atom: Chuck Norris Tries To Sue His Way Into Our Hearts

  • Plume · 1 year ago
chuck doesn't the owe internet anything? what? the internet is a communication vehicle. people with similar topics and tastes and interests can find each other. the internet doesn't make something relevent it's the activity of inquiry that humans do that make relevance. I like bruce lee. me alone stating this has made bruce lee relevant, even if this was a thought that did not make it to my fingertips to the keyboard.

I am speaking about relevance in the sense that celebrities accept it. That is, "being talked about," being famous.

Fame requires that you are topical. That's what separates fame from skill or talent. Paris Hilton, for example, is quite famous even though I would say someone like Susan Surandon is much more talented.

Chuck Norris stopped being talked about years ago. He was no longer topical, no longer "relevant."

This Internet meme made people remember him again, and suddenly he became much more topical -- more "relevant." He owes the Internet (in a general sense) for providing the distribution channel that spread this meme.

More than that, however, he owes his fans a little patience considering this entire thing was just supposed to be a joke, not an attack on Chuck Norris' character.

Some people WILL think it is true. That's just how stupid some people are.
