I would hate to pyt a needy sentience on this planet and be like take your marching orders from 'life' or kill yourself. All that happiness/fulfilment crap is a rickety link between our rational and limbic brains, so we can feel like we are doing something important-an illusion because us, our senses, and the universe arround us are NEVER doing anything of importance. The only reason it's ok to walk from a to b and back, ceaselessly, pointlessly, is because the food that makes it possible is the loss-leader for the whole experiment: It was going bad anyway!

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

How to get across the ideas bound up in the word “privilege,” in a way that you or your friend will get, without freaking out about it?

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Great post! And this isn't just about a career, or finding a job you enjoy. You hit the nail on the head: it's about finding a purpose: why we should get up in the morning, and what to strive for in life.

The sad thing is that while most of us are born without having to worry about finding food, and survival... we still have our backs against the wall when it comes to living a purposeful life - paying the bills, raising a family, the busyness of everyday life can really grind us down and make us feel defeated...

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

i just read your article, i found it on bing, very useful read, i will certain be coming back to this site for a second time.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Time and money, something most of us don't have.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

I believe if a person has the person they love (romantically), to share their life with, they can deal with everything else in their lives. But, when that's not possible, it's very difficult to find happiness in anything in their lives, when they have a permanent broken heart. I know what some of you are thinking & no they can't just find another person to love. Some people unfortunately lose the one & only person they love & wante to share their lives with & they can't love anyone else that way no matter how they try.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Most of us are stuck in the rat race with "other" plans in life that seem almost impossible to achieve.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

I think the number is more like 99.9999%. Like the Budda said, life is unsatisfactory. Everyone has this sickness, no exception. However, there is a way out. If you serious about fixing this sickness, you've to dig in and find out more.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Agreed with the author and I think that it's normal to people who thinks only about theyself.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Damn, this is depressing!

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Whatever you written here is very true.A person must do whatever he want then he will be happy.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

or me I had to prove that I could make money doing what I wanted to do on a small scale and then wait for a time I had enough money saved up to do it on a larger scale

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

I agree, a big part of happiness is loving something that makes you happy. Nitric Oxide is considered to be a pro-oxidant. This essentially means that from nitric oxide oxygen byproducts can be produced - in the body - through the process of metabolism. These byproducts can cause damage to the cells.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Yes, it is. I had to wait for quite some time before I could quit my job and do stuff I was interested in. For me I had to prove that I could make money doing what I wanted to do on a small scale and then wait for a time I had enough money saved up to do it on a larger scale. Anyway, I finally have a small sofware company slowsmart.com with a friend and we're having a lot of fun with it. I take my laptop to the library and work on supporting customers and dreaming up new ideas. If you save up your own money instead of borrowing money from someone else then I think it gives you the sense of urgency you need to succeed.

Re: 80% of People Quietly Despise Their Lives

Nice article. I know a lot of people who really do not care for what they do, but they feel trapped by bills, mortgages, and other responsibilities. Others though, do not seem to be bothered by the daily doldrums, pr paerhaps they are less vocal about their dissatisfaction. Nice post!
