Note I didn’t say “a great deal” of effort, I said a heroic effort." All of this, I just think that business need a passion. But I'm wrong because it is need our 110% commitment and struggle to make sure we are not one of the 3 that failed!. I believe, without combination between passion and heroic effort as you said, the business is never succeed. Thanks for this great article. You gimme spirits and inspiration!

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

This Week's Tennis
With the Australian Open just one week away, final preparations for the year’s first Grand Slam are under way in Auckland, Hobart, and Sydney. They have to be. According to a Dun & Bradstreet study, businesses with fewer than 20 employees have only a 9% chance of surviving a decade.Even those who are successful in business may fail when it comes to their own finances. Too often these talented entrepreneurs concentrate so intensely on their business that they neglect their personal financial planning.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

The only way you are going to have any desire at all to go through this insanity is if you’re really passionate about what you are doing..And this is a hidden fact behind every tasks

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

Great article, very well written. I have to second your point about passion; you definitely have to have passion to help keep you and your employees motivated, however, this will not translate into the success of your business. In order for this to happen you must have some substance to add to your style and passion. Making sure that you have a good business model, competent employees and a good client base will definitely help you succeed.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

I like the idea of having someone help you with the little extra things that you can neglect in your business ventures, but if you have the drive to succeed then you will create the network you need to be successful. Thanks for putting the spotlight back on passion.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

Yes you are true that negligence makes most of the business a failure. Getting some outside advice is almost ways what ends up making the difference.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

There are more people than even I'd like to admit who open businesses (especially online businesses with small startup costs) without any real consideration of what they're in for.

They are passionate but they are passionately heading in completely incorrect directions. I mostly agree with you though, passion is critical but if your ship is pointed towards the rocks, it doesn't really matter how quickly you row.

That being said, I've seen passionate people do some amazing things so my heart is definitely with you on that one.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

completely disagree. if you believe in your product and have a passion for what you do, nothing can stop you. sounds hokey but it's true. of course you need to have some common business sense, but if you don't have that you probably aren't thinking of opening your own business anyways.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

Yum, this is totally spot on. Trying to "go it alone" is a quick way to go completely crazy. You need someone (preferably outside of your crazy bubble) to keep you on track and give you perspective. Great point per usual Robert.

Re: 3 Out Of Every 4 Businesses Die Of Neglect

Passion is what will get you through and keep you going. But make no mistake, as you said, having your own business is a hell of a lot of time. I can attest to that. One suggestion I can make it to have someone else working with you that can keep you on track. Many times I've come up with new app ideas and Justin and/or my wife have told me to keep focus on what we've got. That has been a huge help, and channeled my passion for what it is we're doing and what we're trying to achieve. No need to work all those long hours by yourself is there?

Robert W.
