Nice list, will add some of these to my list.
SDR (Slash Dot Review) gets a thumbs up from me
  • Mark Dykeman · 1 year ago
Man, you've got some good finds there. Thanks!

I'd also suggest Elite Tech News, also including Steven Hodson, as well as Push My Follow, which is a funny and fun podcast.
  • Greg Hollingsworth · 1 year ago
I would echo Mark's recommendation of Push My Follow. Also the View Askew Smodcast, The Six Pixels of Separation Podcast and Marketing Over Coffee.
  • Ted H · 1 year ago
Thanks for the list, but I think you meant: This American Life.
  • sbspalding · 1 year ago

If you haven't listened to Radio Lab (http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/), you should.
  • Duane · 1 year ago
The best podcasts also will depend on the length of your commute. I've tried many times to get into TWiT, but it's too long for me and I'd rather listen to shorter, less geeky things.

Where's the love for Podiobooks.com? No end of good content there, served up as frequently as you like! I typically have at least 3 books going at any one time.

My daily/weekly fix of podcasts includes (in no particular order):

    - Dan Patrick radio show (sports)
    - Dennis Miller radio show (comedy/politics)
    - Fresh Air (Terry Gross is the best interviewer around)
    - This American Life (love this quirky show...and have for 10 years)
    - Brian Lehrer (WNYC - as long as the topic isn't local to NYC)
    - Leonard Lopate (WNYC - wide-ranging, fascinating interviews)
    - Radio Lab (WNYC - excellent show, with not-enough new episodes)
  • angst · 1 year ago
    Wall Street Journal Tech Report

GFW Radio is the only podcast I genuinely look forward to every week, the only one I listen to because I enjoy it (and not just to pass the time, which I admittedly do with some lesser shows), and by far the best gaming podcast, even though - and probably because - it usually spends at least half the show talking about completely unrelated stuff.
  • Zeek · 1 year ago
The Bugle- audio newspaper for a visual world- with John Oliver and Andy Salzman. The worst part is there's only one a week.
  • Squishy · 1 year ago

    For music I love:
Coverville (you would never believe there's almost 200 shows worth of song covers several times a week, plus the "Musically Challenged" portion is fun)
Radio Nowhere (it's long, but has a weird mix of music you may or may not find on traditional radio)

    Other fun podcasts:
    CarTalk (of course)
Philosophy Bites (philosophy 101 for short commutes)
Speaking of Faith (intelligent, open conversation on religion)

Hey thanks for mentioning my pod -- Radio Drama Revival! I also do one called "SEO Audio" with short 2-3 minute tips and tricks for web marketing stuff done in my professional life. hallme.com/podcast

For those who haven't listened to radio drama/audio drama/audio theater before, Radio Drama Revival! is a good primer with different stuff all the time.

Also give a shout-out to Wormwood -- a "Twin Peaks" like serial story for podcast. Give a listen to a completely different way of enjoying a story... you'll like it

If you enjoy travel podcasts, try the Indie Travel Podcast. It's by a kiwi couple travelling around the world. They do a video and audio weekly along with a couple of reviews.

I also really like the BBC's Digital Planet for a half-hour overview of technical development around the world.
  • chris2x · 1 year ago

nice list of podcast! would like to try listening to some in my car radio when I'm in the road... :)
  • TDavid · 1 year ago
Thanks for sharing this list. I like it when folks make lists like these! I checked the Zune Marketplace where I've been helping with podcast submissions and only two of these are not listed in the marketplace: The Web 2.0 Show and Things That You Can't Say About The Internet. I'll contact these podcasters.
